PLANT WELLNESS IN THE PALM OF YOUR HANDS
Cannabidiol (CBD) is similar to a compound that our own bodies naturally produce called endocannabinoids, and their receptors are located throughout our central nervous system and most of the organs in our bodies (this is referred to as the endocannabinoid system). CBD works by stimulating the body’s own endocannabinoid system and creating beneficial changes within. Research shows that cannabinoids like CBD are so effective because they activate an already existing system in the human body. However as with any supplement taken, the effects can vary based on your own body chemistry.
Among the many reported beneficial effects of CBD:
- Managing Homeostasis: Our body produces it’s own endocannabinoids (which are similar to CBD). Research shows that when we supplement our natural reserves and enhance our own cannabinoid deficiency with CBD, it helps keep our body’s immune, digestive and nervous systems in balance.
-
Stress management: Since cannabinoid receptors are found in the parts of the brain that regulate stress, research shows that CBD usage can improve your body’s response to stress and can help reduce anxiety levels.
-
Pain management: CBD has both anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties to help directly with pain relief, which also includes managing headaches.
Despite being such a beneficial compound, for decades CBD did not get much attention because the focus was on THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and the psychoactive properties of cannabis. Now there is great interest in the healing and wellness benefits of CBD and more preclinical trials are confirming the positive attributes it has on overall body health.
The effects of CBD can be attained when either ingested, inhaled, taken sublingually or absorbed topically through the skin. CBD does not have the psychoactive components associated with THC, and when sourced from the hemp plant as we do, it is legal to distribute and purchase.
